My favorite holiday
is Thanksgiving! I love it because the essence of it is so simple and genuine. Thanksgiving
is a premeditated day of love and appreciation shared through family, food, and
friends. (Maybe some spirits too-LOL!) I
can’t help but to think of
my Grandma (Ruby Nell Ikner) because she
consistently displayed how to love on family & friends in good times and
bad. It didn’t matter what was going on she loved on everyone because in her mind that was the point of life. It still amazes me how she could cook, talk, and yell
at us for running through her house while smoking and her cigarette butt never
fell off. LOL! Her name (Ruby) was quite fitting because this lady was a gem.
In my opinion real life occurs during these moments. I’m not watching my waistline or figuring
out what days I am going to the gym. I can’t arrive too late or too early, (Who
am I kidding I never arrive “too early”) I don’t have any assignments to turn
in, I don’t like to shop so I am not concerned about Black Friday, and I’m not
answering emails. All I have to do is show up because no matter what these
people love me and I love them just as much if not more.
It is a blessing to
see how the simplicity of family, food, and friends continues to create some of
the most important memories in my life. I am forever thankful and much obliged…..
